A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of meeting and photographing Ellen and Dan. We had to reschedule quite a few times last year because of weather so it was great to finally meet up and get to know these two. Ellen went as far as to buy a fun umbrella for our session in case it rained. However no rain happened and we were lucky and blessed with the most beautiful weather.
Ellen and Dan are very private so having a session that reflected that was very important. So we decided on locations that were quiet and would allow some time for them to relax and let their silly sides come out. They have a goofy black lab named Bailey. You know how much I love adding dogs to engagement sessions so naturally I was all about including him. Bailey was originally Ellen’s dog but has become a huge part of both their lives. Bailey does better in quiet settings so we decided to start at their home base. He is a bouncy, friendly and so much fun to photograph!
I mean c’mon look at that face!! What isn’t there to love?? Like most dogs Bailey just wanted to be my friend! It doesn’t hurt that I brought my stinky duck treats that dogs can’t resist. I also always have an array of squeaky toys with several different pitches. Most of the toys that I use I got from past Bark Boxes and dogs love them! It wasn’t long until me playing with Bailey helped Ellen and Dan loosen up and have some fun.
After photos at their home we headed to Haggett’s Pond. Ellen and Dan were both still shy so I busted out my bluetooth speaker and played 90’s music and showed off my horrible dance moves.
Not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera, myself included, so knowing this I like to make a fool out of myself. I make a fool for your amusement and to let you know you can let your guard down and show me yourselves. The debauchery worked because pretty soon they were smiling and I was getting all these fantastic gems. See for yourself!
Very early in their relationship Ellen jumped on Dan and he caught her! Now she does it all the time, He lovingly referred to her as a spider monkey. Look at how much fun these two have with each other!
This photo is my favorite of the whole day! Ellen and Dan I had a blast with you both! I can’t wait for your wedding this September at the Danversport Yacht Club.
