Lisa + Pete – Lynn Woods Garden Wedding

November 30, 2018

Filed in: Weddings

A little talk of rain won’t stop this love story from happening….

Lisa and Pete had their wedding in Lynn, Massachusetts at the Lynn Woods Gardens followed by their reception at the Blue Ox Restaurant in downtown Lynn.

Lisa and Pete met and ultimately fell in love after joining the Mystic Runners group. Pete and Lisa say they connected on their mutual love for the medical field and tales of the grossest medical things they had seen in their careers; Lisa as a nurse and Pete a former EMT. They both love being active and hike frequently at Lynn Woods with their adorable pug Dewey. In fact I photographed the two of earlier this year at Lynn Woods for their engagement session. You can see the photos of their engagement session here. The location that I photographed them was on the other side of the reservation. Fun Fact Lynn Woods is REALLY big: 2,200 acres big.

Here is one of my favorites from their engagement session.

Pete and Lisa both got ready at their condo in Lynn (they have since moved into a beautiful house also in Lynn). Lisa downstairs with her adorable nieces, sister in laws and friends and Pete upstairs with his best friend and best man Will. This was my first time photographing a couple getting ready simultaneously in the same house. The excitement that house radiated was felt in every corner. Lisa’s friend LeeAnn Rubin from Making Faces did make-up for the bridal party; Lisa’s nieces and also for Lisa while a stylist from BeGlammed did Lisa’s hair. BeGlammed is like uber for hair!

After hair and makeup was complete Lisa got photos on her front porch with her pug Dewey and nieces in their cute floral silk robes before having a first look with Pete on her front stoop. It was so cute seeing these two love on each other before jumping in their limo and heading to the Lynn gardens in Lynn Woods for their intimate ceremony. The rain held off during their vows but Pete and company went to the gardens early that morning and put up white tents just in case. The weather really surprised us all by holding off rain showers until the reception.

Lisa was walked down the aisle by her dad with the company of her pug Dewey as her brother played acoustic guitar. The ceremony had many personal touches to it including a beautiful song sang by Lisa’s niece Natalie, a rose bush watering ceremony with Lisa’s grandmother and the flower girl Cate, their friend and neighbor Beth who officiated and all the personal DIY touches that Lisa created. Pete always wanted a wedding and picked the special rose garden spot and Lisa made it come alive with her personality and creativity. It really was a beautiful ceremony and I definitely might have cried a few times. (I cry at almost every wedding I attend)

After the I do’s we snuck away for a few shots against a tall grove of trees before reconvening with family and bridal party for some photos. Both Lisa and Pete’s friends and family were so easy going and laid back which made for a chill afternoon and fun photo session. We made it to the Blue Ox right before the rain came down. Then it was time to party.

It really was just the most lovely Sunday afternoon wedding and I am very lucky to call both Lisa and Pete my friends. They are both so super cute and lovey with each other and photographing them together is so natural and fun. I had a blast, even busting a few moves with Pete’s mom on the dance floor. Thanks for having me as your wedding photographer!

Special thanks to my second photographer Casey Bayer.
